What Are The 5 Features Of A Seiko 5?
Initially introduced in 1963, the Seiko 5 wristwatch was conceived to be a basic and affordable timepiece that would appeal to the youth of the 1960's. The idea was to create a mass-produced standardized sub-brand of watches that could be customized in various different ways, while keeping 5 key features that would define it. Since it's introduction, Seiko has sold tens of millions, if not more, Seiko 5 watches. It has gone on to become one of the most iconic watches of all time.
The 5 features of a Seiko 5 are:
1. Automatic winding
2. Day/date displayed in a single window
3. Water resistance
4. Recessed crown at the 4 o’clock position
5. Durable case and bracelet
It should be noted that although Seiko 5's are durable watches that provide incredible bang for your buck, they typically are not built for professional usage and do not meet any ISO standards. But then again, that's what the Seiko Prospex sub-brand is for.
